A spray bottle filled with Hydrogen Peroxide is a good tool to have when tracking a wounded deer. When the blood gets sparse or to determine if it is actually blood you're looking at, spray the Peroxide in the area in question. The Proxide will foam up as it reacts with the blood leaving no doubt if you are on the right path to finding your deer. It also doubles as a cleansing agent for wounds you may encounter in the field.

Inmates Process Venison

Prisoners have processed and packaged 3,000 pounds of venison donated by hunters that will be used to feed poor residents through a statewide food program.

Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman visited Pendleton’s Correctional Industrial Facility on Thursday to announce the donation of 12,000 quarter-pound portions of the high-protein meat to Feed Indiana’s Hunger, a network of food banks and food processors. Inmates in the Prison Enterprise Network program processed and packaged the meat that will be given out at nine food banks, officials said.

The Department of Natural Resources Director Kyle Hupfer began a program to exchange hunters’ venison with a coupon for a reduced price antlerless deer license. The program allowed hunters to kill extra deer to help feed the poor and reduce large deer populations that are damaging native plant life in 10 southeastern Indiana counties.
